Ring setup and installation:
The Ring system has everything you need. The packaging is easy to find all the sensors, instructions, and cables you need. Ring provides directions from the app and printed materials in the box—you just need to follow.
The Installation process starts with your base hub, or the “brain” that ties the system together.
You’ll want to have your Wi-Fi password because there’s no “cancel” option if you enter it in wrong and this can add time to the process.
Once your base station is connected, the rest is very simple. It will need a four-digit entry code for the keypad and a place to put your sensors, but these devices take just a minute to install.
If you’re getting another Ring system or giving yours away, you’ll need to restore its factory settings. This process takes time because you have to manually reset each device.
The advantages of Ring Alarm:
- Low-cost and professional monitoring: it’s really amazing that Ring offers some of the lowest rates around for 24/7 professional monitoring at just $10 per month or $100 a year. It also have the option to self-monitor where as some companies require professional monitoring.
- Smart home integrations: as an Amazon-owned company, Ring is also compatible with Alexa, which is Amazon’s voice assistant. Ring Alarm also works with Google Assistant and a slew of third-party brands.
- Robust Ring ecosystem: it allows us to mix and match other Ring devices such as our Ring Stick up Cam Wired and Ring Video Doorbell to fortify our Ring Alarm security system. It can also be very helpful saving us a lot of money.

1- Privacy concerns: With smart security systems can open the door for hackers. However Ring is no stranger to security breaches 1 but has improved two-step authentication into the Ring— Alarm app in an effort to reduce the number of hacked devices.
2- Connectivity issues: During the initial setup of Ring Alarm’s base station, there can be some trouble connecting it to our Wi-Fi, in this case all you have to do is to do several tries, you will find that the connection is going through normally and, most likely, you might never encounter this issue again.
At the end:
The Ring Alarm system works very well with small homes or anyone who wants to save their money on their security budget. It’s hard to beat the number $120 a year for a professional monitoring system (or in other words $100 if you pay for a full year in advance).
The system is very easy to install and adjust, but we did run into a few hiccups. However, overall, it appears that it’s proved that is much easier to control the system with Ring Alarm than with any other previous systems.
If you’re a security concerned person, and you want to try out a system without a huge financial or time commitment, without a doubt Ring Alarm is a right place to start.
